


Manderra prison Nutritional support project where, we have installed 2 greenhouses and ½ acre open field irrigation systems supported and funded by one of international partners. The objectives of the intervention The main objective of the project is, “Up to 500 detainees of Mandera Central Prison have improved their food consumption, so that they consume at least three of food groups daily including leafy vegetable, root tuber and non-leafy vegetables.”
- To improve the nutritional intake of up to 600 detainees in Mandera prison by ensuring all year round the production of assorted vegetable varieties.
- To produce the agreed Yields of tomatoes, cabbages. Beetroot, carrots. onions, coriander, capsicum, and spinach
- To train a new group of detainees (at least 2 detainees from each cell) and equip them with gardening skills.
- To train Custodians on bookkeeping & Recording
- Ultimately to contribute to the decrease in overall expenses by the detention facilities to purchase and provide vegetables
